2026 Week 1 Fantasy Football Matchup Preview: Friday–Monday Games

Every game on the Sunday–Monday slate broken down with the fantasy calls that actually matter.

Week 1 is finally here — the part of the slate where we're working with offseason logic, depth-chart tea leaves, and whatever the injury report spits out on Friday. Speaking of which: there are enough questionable tags on key players this week to make lineup decisions genuinely painful. Check everything one more time before lock.

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers

The Bears enter with real offensive optimism around Caleb Williams in year two. The biggest injury watch here is Rome Odunze, who was limited in practice for two straight days this week — his status is questionable and worth monitoring right up to kickoff. If Odunze sits, Luther Burden absorbs more target volume and becomes a legitimate flex with upside in all formats. D'Andre Swift is a reliable PPR-friendly back regardless of the Odunze news.

On the Panthers side, Tetairoa McMillan is the name to know — he's drawn "starts of the week" attention from multiple analysts heading into his NFL debut. Jonathon Brooks is questionable, which pushes Chuba Hubbard into a larger role if Brooks can't go. In PPR leagues Hubbard becomes startable with the extra volume.

  • Injury alert: Rome Odunze (Questionable) — monitor Friday/Saturday updates before starting.

  • Injury alert: Jonathon Brooks (Questionable) — Chuba Hubbard's value rises sharply if Brooks is out.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals

Multiple analysts flagged this as one of the highest-scoring games of the week. Baker Mayfield locked in a $165M extension this week and brings a healthy offense into Cincinnati. Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell form a dual-threat backfield that Bucs OT Tristan Wirfs praised publicly — both carry value, but Irving is the one to roster in PPR leagues if you need a flex. Gainwell had 222.3 PPR points last season in a different role; his new situation with Tampa is unproven, so temper the ceiling.

For the Bengals, Ja'Marr Chase is a lock in every format. Tee Higgins returns healthy and is a strong WR2. Joe Burrow running a high-octane offense makes Chase Brown worth starting in PPR as a receiving back. Mike Gesicki is ranked outside the top 30 at TE — don't force him into lineups.

New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions

One analyst specifically called out Chris Olave as a sleeper against what's described as a "decimated Lions secondary" — that's the narrative play of the week. Olave posted 269.0 PPR points last season and is a strong start in all formats. Travis Etienne (253.9 PPR points last year) is a workhorse worth starting in every format. Tyler Shough is a borderline fantasy QB2/streamer; don't expect Burrow-level output.

Alvin Kamara is questionable — that's the single biggest news for this game. If Kamara is out, Etienne's workload expands further, which makes him even more valuable. On the Detroit side, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown are elite starts. Jameson Williams is a boom-bust WR2 with home-run upside. Sam LaPorta is a reliable TE2 in half-PPR and PPR.

  • Injury alert: Alvin Kamara (Questionable) — check status before finalizing Saints RB decisions.

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans

Josh Allen is a top fantasy QB every week — start him without hesitation. James Cook is a bellcow back with receiving upside that makes him elite in PPR. DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir both put up solid PPR totals last season (170.2 and 166.4 respectively) and are dependable starters in a Bills offense that moves fast.

Houston counters with Nico Collins, who posted 226.2 PPR points in 15 games last year — that's WR1 production and he's a must-start. David Montgomery handles the ground game, and Dalton Schultz (177.7 PPR points last season) is one of the better TE streamers in Week 1. C.J. Stroud is a mid-range QB2 with a favorable enough matchup to stream if needed.

Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts

Lamar Jackson is a top-five fantasy QB — start him everywhere. Derrick Henry is a smash spot against the Colts; he's an RB1 in all formats. Zay Flowers (243.3 PPR points last season) is a must-start WR. Mark Andrews posted a modest 131.0 PPR points last year, but he's still a top-12 TE option.

Indianapolis counters with Jonathan Taylor, who put up 362.3 PPR points last season — that's RB1 elite territory. Tyler Warren is a high-upside rookie TE worth starting in PPR leagues. Alec Pierce is questionable, which limits his ceiling this week; don't reach for him. Josh Downs is a buy-low favorite among analysts and a sneaky PPR flex if you need depth.

  • Injury alert: Alec Pierce (Questionable) — avoid unless confirmed active.

Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars

Parker Washington has been one of the biggest breakout narratives heading into Week 1 and draws a "must-start" call from multiple analysts against the Browns. He posted 184.7 PPR points in 16 games last year and is a strong WR2/flex in all formats. Trevor Lawrence is a mid-range QB2. Bhayshul Tuten has generated buzz as a potential workhorse back — worth starting if he's confirmed as the lead.

Cleveland's most interesting fantasy piece is Harold Fannin at TE, who posted 186.4 PPR points last season and faces a soft matchup. He's a legitimate TE1 play this week. KC Concepcion could emerge as the Browns' target leader from Week 1 onward — he's a deep PPR add worth watching. Quinshon Judkins has had mixed reviews in preseason analysis; the role is real but the ceiling is unclear in Week 1.

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers

Tua Tagovailoa is questionable with a back injury suffered in Thursday's practice — reports indicate the Falcons were working with their third quarterback at practice. That's a significant red flag. If Tua can't go, Bijan Robinson's fantasy value takes a hit, though he's still arguably worth starting given his elite talent (370.8 PPR points last season) and the run-game floor. Drake London's value drops considerably without a reliable QB. Monitor this situation aggressively before Sunday.

Pittsburgh features DK Metcalf (187.2 PPR points last season) paired with Aaron Rodgers, who's chasing a passing touchdown milestone. Rico Dowdle and Jaylen Warren split carries — Warren has more PPR value as the pass-catching back in that committee. DK is a firm WR2 start.

  • Injury alert: Tua Tagovailoa (Questionable, back) — practice reports suggest the situation is serious. Treat all Falcons skill players as risky until confirmed active.

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans

Breece Hall posted 207.7 PPR points last year and is a strong RB2 start in all formats. Garrett Wilson had a down year in PPR in 2025 but has consistently produced 1,000-yard seasons — he's worth starting as a WR2 in formats where he draws enough targets. Geno Smith is a low-end QB2/streamer at best.

Tennessee's Tony Pollard put up 185.8 PPR points last season and is a solid RB2. Carnell Tate is a rookie WR with dynasty buzz but limited Week 1 clarity; treat him as a boom-bust flex. Cam Ward is a low-end streaming QB option. Wan'Dale Robinson posted 217.9 PPR points last year and is worth a PPR start if you need depth at receiver.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers

Trey McBride is an elite TE1 — 315.9 PPR points last season is one of the best TE totals in the league. Lock him in. Jeremiyah Love is questionable, which is a major issue for the Cardinals' backfield; check his status before the weekend. Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson (220.6 PPR points last season) give Arizona passing-game weapons, but the QB situation with Jacoby Brissett caps the ceiling. Wilson is a serviceable PPR flex; Marvin Harrison is a boom-bust play.

Los Angeles counters with Omarion Hampton as a promising rookie RB — he logged 135.7 PPR points last year in a part-time role and now potentially leads the backfield. Ladd McConkey (180.9 PPR points last season) is a strong PPR WR2. Quentin Johnston drew a "flex" mention from analysts specifically for this matchup. Justin Herbert is a top-five QB start. Cameron Dicker's injury situation was flagged earlier in the week — worth a quick check before Sunday.

  • Injury alert: Jeremiyah Love (Questionable) — Cardinals backfield planning hinges on this update.

Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders

De'Von Achane is a top-10 RB in all formats — start him without overthinking it. The Dolphins' passing game leans on Malik Willis at QB; his 51.2 fantasy points in 16 games last year as a rusher-first option caps the aerial ceiling significantly. Malik Washington is a deep PPR stash, not a must-start.

The big news for Las Vegas: Brock Bowers is out this week. He posted 176.2 PPR points last season in only 14 games — that production disappears entirely in Week 1. Ashton Jeanty practiced in full after an ankle injury and appears on track to play; he's a strong RB2 with upside as a workhorse. Tre Tucker draws a flex mention from analysts specifically for this game as a PPR target in a soft matchup. Kirk Cousins is not a fantasy QB you want to start.

  • Injury alert: Brock Bowers (Out) — significant blow to Raiders fantasy stacks. Do not start him.

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson posted 201.5 PPR points last season and is a WR1 must-start. Kyler Murray brings legitimate dual-threat upside to Minnesota's offense — he's a solid QB2 in Week 1. Aaron Jones is a serviceable PPR flex but not a lock at his age and in a backfield that may mix in Jordan Mason.

Jordan Love (241.1 fantasy points last season) is a strong QB2 start in a divisional game he'll be motivated for. Tucker Kraft is fully healthy after a torn ACL last November. MarShawn Lloyd has dynasty buzz but logged only 7 career touches in two seasons; dynasty analysts are already debating whether to sell. His Week 1 role is genuinely uncertain — don't auto-start based on hype alone. Christian Watson and Jayden Reed round out a WR room with some depth but no clear alpha.

Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles

Jayden Daniels is a must-start QB with rushing upside. Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs (210.3 PPR points last season) give Washington a strong WR duo — both are startable. Jacory Croskey-Merritt is questionable at RB, which creates lineup uncertainty for Washington's ground game; track this one heading into the weekend.

Saquon Barkley posted 232.3 PPR points last season as an Eagle and is a lock in all formats. Jalen Hurts (305.1 fantasy points) is a top-five QB. DeVonta Smith is a strong WR2 start. Dallas Goedert played eight games last year but posted 109.2 points in that limited sample — if healthy, he's a solid TE2. Eli Stowers is questionable at TE and is irrelevant to most redraft lineups.

  • Injury alert: Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Questionable) — Washington's RB depth chart needs watching.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants

CeeDee Lamb is a top WR1 in every format — no debate. Dak Prescott makes Dallas's offense function; he's a QB2 with upside. Javonte Williams runs behind what should be a motivated Cowboys offense on the road. George Pickens is a boom-bust WR2 with big-play ability in his new offense. Jake Ferguson is a mid-range TE2.

Malik Nabers is questionable — that's the most important news out of New York. If he plays, he's an elite WR1; if he doesn't, the Giants' passing game has a massive hole. Cam Skattebo has received strong preseason buzz as a potential workhorse back. Jaxson Dart posted 246.6 fantasy points last season and is worth monitoring as a streaming option if Nabers plays and the offense opens up.

  • Injury alert: Malik Nabers (Questionable) — do not set your lineup in this game without a final injury update.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

Monday night closes the slate with a game that matters in both real football and fantasy terms. Patrick Mahomes is the Chiefs' engine, but multiple analysts have him outside their top-15 QBs this week — that's a minority take worth acknowledging if you're debating him against a stronger streaming option. Rashee Rice is a boom-bust WR2. Travis Kelce posted 193.2 PPR points last season — he's a TE1, though not the ceiling play he once was. Kenneth Walker handles the Chiefs backfield.

Bo Nix posted 315.8 fantasy points last season and is ranked as a QB who's "ready to rise" according to preseason tier lists — he's a solid QB2 start. Jaylen Waddle brings elite route-running to Denver's offense. RJ Harvey (206.6 PPR points last season) is a legitimate RB2 start. J.K. Dobbins is in the mix behind Harvey — his role is unclear enough in Week 1 to avoid in most formats.
