2026 Week 2 Fantasy Football Thursday Night Football Preview: Detroit Lions at Buffalo Bills

Two of the most fantasy-rich rosters in the NFL collide Thursday night — here's who to start, who to watch, and what to know by format.

One game. Two loaded rosters. Thursday Night Football's Week 2 matchup between the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills is a fantasy feast — both offenses put up big numbers in Week 1, and the projections back up the hype. Lock in your lineups and read on.

Detroit Lions at Buffalo Bills

Buffalo's offense arrived in 2026 looking like a problem. Josh Allen posted 35.66 PPR points in Week 1, carving up the Texans on deep balls — going 11-for-14 on passes of 10-plus yards per post-game reporting. Allen carries a full-season PPR projection of 367.1 points (FantasyPros 2026), the highest of any player in this game. Start him in every format, no questions asked.

Detroit's Jahmyr Gibbs is the other must-start of the night. He put up 33.6 PPR points in Week 1 and projects for 335.2 PPR points on the season — the top-ranked player in this slate by projection. He's the first name on your lineup card regardless of scoring format.

Buffalo Bills

  • Josh Allen, QB: Smash spot. Elite Week 1 performance, elite season projection. No injury concern. Play him everywhere.

  • DJ Moore, WR: Immediate chemistry with Allen in his Bills debut — four explosive plays on a 77.2 PFF receiving grade per Week 1 reporting. Totaled 21.0 PPR points in Week 1. His 165.4-point season projection (FantasyPros 2026) already looks conservative. Strong start/sit lean in all formats.

  • James Cook, RB: Week 1 was quiet — 9.9 PPR points — but he carries a 255.1 full-season PPR projection, so one soft game isn't a reason to bench him. His value does shift by format: in PPR leagues (where receptions score a full point), his pass-catching role matters more. In standard scoring, he needs to find the end zone to pay off.

  • Dalton Kincaid, TE: An 18.0 PPR-point Week 1 and a 128.2-point season projection make him one of the better tight end options this week. Tight end is a scarce position in fantasy — if Kincaid is on your roster, he's probably starting.

  • Khalil Shakir, WR: Managed 9.0 PPR points in Week 1. With Moore clearly operating as Allen's No. 1 option, Shakir's upside is capped. Flex-only in deeper leagues.

Detroit Lions

  • Jahmyr Gibbs, RB: The overall RB1 in this slate by projection (335.2 PPR points, FantasyPros 2026) backed it up with 33.6 PPR points in Week 1. Start him in every format — his receiving ability makes him especially dangerous in PPR and half-PPR.

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR: Posted 28.7 PPR points in Week 1 and projects for 272.2 on the season. He's the clear WR1 in this game from the Detroit side and a legitimate WR1 in your lineup. No injury concern listed.

  • Jared Goff, QB: A quiet 16.44 PPR points in Week 1 and a 293.1-point season projection put him well behind Allen in this matchup. Solid QB2 in 2QB or Superflex formats; benched in single-QB leagues unless you're desperate.

  • Jameson Williams, WR: Only 8.5 PPR points in Week 1 despite a 182.3-point season projection suggests his role is still developing. The boom-bust profile is real — big-play speed means a ceiling exists, but the floor is low. Flex consideration in PPR leagues only.

  • Sam LaPorta, TE: A 9.8 PPR-point Week 1 on a 155.9-point season projection. Viable TE starter in leagues where you need a second tight end or your TE1 is on a bye.

Bottom line: this game should be high-scoring, and the fantasy production should follow. Allen, Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and DJ Moore are the four names to build your Thursday night lineup around.
