2026 Week 7 Fantasy Football Reaction: Cowboys 38, Eagles 21
Saquon Barkley exits with a back injury, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks sit out, and the Eagles' injury crisis just got a lot worse.
The Eagles' injury situation went from bad to catastrophic Monday night, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). Dallas beat Philadelphia 38-21, but the bigger fantasy story is what Philadelphia lost in the process: Saquon Barkley left with a back injury after returning from a hamstring issue, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks didn't suit up at all, and Dameon Pierce also exited in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury. The Eagles are 2-5 and decimated.
Saquon Barkley
Barkley had returned from a two-game hamstring absence, then suffered a back injury — a completely different issue — in limited usage (7 carries, 62 yards, 1 TD, 2 catches, 9 yards) before leaving. Two separate injuries in one return game is a brutal sign for dynasty managers. Redraft owners should not start Barkley until there's a clear injury report indicating he's practiced and is officially active. The Eagles have not disclosed a timeline, and given the hamstring miss preceding this, caution is warranted.
Dameon Pierce
Pierce stepped into the lead-back role with Barkley limited and finished with 14 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown before exiting with an undisclosed injury of his own. If both Barkley and Pierce miss time, Philadelphia's backfield is a waiver-wire lottery — check the Eagles' next injury report before adding anyone speculatively. The matchup and offensive line concerns that produced a 2-5 record dampen the appeal of any Eagle RB regardless.
DeVonta Smith
Smith sat out entirely — the source story lists him as out alongside Wicks, with no additional detail on why or for how long. His absence opened the door for rookie Makai Lemon, who caught 7 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. If Smith misses more time, Lemon becomes a legitimate streaming option in PPR (point-per-reception) leagues, though the Eagles' 2-5 record and a backup QB (Tanner McKee) in place of Jalen Hurts limits the ceiling.
Dontayvion Wicks
Wicks was also out Monday, and Lemon's production directly reflects the void left by both Smith and Wicks at the position. Until the Eagles clarify Wicks' status and Smith's status, Lemon is the name to watch on the waiver wire. Don't overreact to one game in a negative script — but do check availability now before the rest of your league catches up.
