2026 Week 8 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Jaylin Noel Lands on IR With Turf Toe
The Texans wide receiver is out at least four weeks, opening up targets for his teammates.
According to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports), the Houston Texans placed wide receiver Jaylin Noel on injured reserve Wednesday with turf toe, sidelining him for at least four weeks. In a corresponding move, the Texans claimed running back Emari Demercado off waivers from the Cowboys.
Jaylin Noel
Noel is done for the foreseeable future. His turf toe IR stint wipes him off your roster — drop him in redraft leagues and hold in dynasty given his age (24) and productive 2026 pace (19 catches, 331 yards, 2 TDs in seven games). The four-week minimum gets him back no earlier than Week 12 at the earliest, so don't wait on him.
Xavier Hutchinson
With Noel out, Hutchinson is the most realistic immediate beneficiary. He's been on the field for 53.2% of snaps across all seven games this season and is averaging 5.7 targets per game — already a solid floor. Noel's departure frees up a real role in the offense, and Hutchinson's consistent snap share makes him the next man up for those looks. He's a strong waiver-wire add this week.
Nico Collins
Collins is the clear WR1 on this offense and doesn't need Noel's absence to justify a roster spot — he's averaging 7 targets per game in five appearances. If anything, a healthier target distribution with Noel gone could push his volume even higher. Already own him? Lock him in.
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Harrison's usage has been limited so far (3.5 targets per game across six games, 55.9% snap rate), so he's a deeper flier than Hutchinson if you're looking for Noel's vacated opportunity. He's worth a speculative add in deeper leagues, but Hutchinson has the stronger current role to inherit.
As for Demercado: ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports) reports he ran five times for 15 yards in two appearances for Dallas and has a modest history with the Cardinals over three prior seasons. He's a depth add for the Texans backfield — nothing to act on in fantasy right now.
