2026 Week 8 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Rashee Rice Expected to Practice Wednesday

Rice is returning to practice after a two-week absence — here's what it means for him and the Chiefs' receiver room.

Rashee Rice is trending toward a return, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that Kansas City expects Rice back on the practice field this week after he missed the last two games with hamstring and knee injuries. Rice is currently listed as questionable.

Two weeks of missed practice and two missed games is a meaningful absence, and the dual-injury tag (hamstring and knee) is the kind of thing worth watching through the rest of the week before making a start/sit call. Rice has posted 13 catches for 190 yards and a touchdown across four appearances this season, so the role is clearly there when healthy. A return to practice Wednesday is a good sign, but "expected to practice" is not "cleared to play" — hold off on locking him into your lineup until the injury report later this week gives a clearer picture.

If Rice does suit up, his presence pushes Xavier Worthy back into the clear WR2 role he's been filling. Worthy has averaged 5.8 targets and 81.9% snap share (the percentage of offensive plays a player is on the field) across six games this season — strong usage that made him a viable streamer during Rice's absence. A healthy Rice almost certainly pulls some of those targets back, so temper expectations for Worthy if Rice is active. Jalen Royals, who has averaged just 2.2 targets per game at 47.8% snap share, would see even less of an opportunity boost and is a drop candidate in most formats if Rice returns.
