Emeka Egbuka Ruled Out Week 8 With Foot Injury
The Buccaneers WR cleared concussion protocol but a foot injury will sideline him again Sunday vs. Atlanta.
Emeka Egbuka will miss his second straight game, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). Head coach Todd Bowles announced Friday that Egbuka is ruled out for Tampa Bay's home matchup against the Falcons. The good news: he has cleared concussion protocol. The bad news: a separate foot injury is keeping him out.
Emeka Egbuka
Egbuka had been on pace for a solid WR2 season — 28 catches, 240 yards, and two touchdowns through his games played — so missing consecutive weeks stings in both redraft and dynasty. ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports) does not specify a timeline beyond this week, so treat him as week-to-week until the Buccaneers say otherwise. Stash him in dynasty; don't wait on him in redraft if you have a viable replacement.
Chris Godwin Jr.
With Egbuka out again, Chris Godwin Jr. is next in line as the depth chart's No. 2 receiver. He's averaged 4.9 targets and logged an 82.1% snap share (percentage of offensive snaps played) across seven games — solid floor numbers that could tick up with Egbuka's volume freed. He's the clearest beneficiary here and worth a start in most formats against Atlanta.
Ted Hurst III
Ted Hurst III sits third on the depth chart and has seen 3.8 targets per game at a 59.3% snap share. He's a viable flex streamer in deeper PPR (point-per-reception) leagues if you need a dart throw, but Godwin Jr. should absorb the lion's share of any Egbuka targets before Hurst sees a meaningful bump.
