Jauan Jennings Blocked Trade Back to 49ers — Fantasy Fallout for Vikings WRs
Jennings chose to stay in Minnesota despite a completed trade framework, leaving his fantasy value — and OBJ's path to targets — in limbo.
According to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports), citing Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Vikings and 49ers had a trade fully in place that would have sent Jauan Jennings back to San Francisco — but Jennings declined to take a Zoom call with coach Kyle Shanahan and G.M. John Lynch, which was a condition of the deal. He chose to stay in Minnesota.

Jennings is staying, but "staying" doesn't automatically mean "playing." The source story makes clear that Minnesota added Odell Beckham Jr. to the practice squad as what was widely viewed as a shot across the bow at Jennings. His production through five games before Week 7 was two catches for nine yards — and even his better week against the Colts (two catches, 34 yards) wasn't exactly a breakout. He blocked the exit door himself, but the Vikings clearly weren't attached to him. Fade him in redraft until he proves he's carved out a real role; in dynasty, the situation is murky enough to sell at his current floor price if you can.
Odell Beckham Jr.
OBJ is still on the practice squad, per the source story, so he hasn't yet been elevated to the active roster. The trade falling through doesn't directly accelerate his path to targets — but it does mean the Vikings now have both Jennings and Beckham competing for the same secondary WR work behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Jefferson averages 6.2 targets per game this season and Addison 5.0, leaving a thin remainder for everyone else. Beckham remains a stash-only play in deeper leagues until he's actually activated and shows up in a game plan.
The real fantasy story here is that neither Jennings nor Beckham looks like a reliable weekly option right now. Jefferson and Addison are the only Vikings pass-catchers worth trusting in redraft formats. Tai Felton is deeper on the depth chart (averaging 1.8 targets in 38% of snaps this season) and would be next in line for extra looks if the WR3 role stays unsettled — but that's a long-shot dart, not a priority add.
