Josh Jacobs Makes 2026 Debut With TD Catch in Packers-Lions Thriller
Jacobs returned from paid leave and scored in Green Bay's eventual 20-17 loss to Detroit.
Josh Jacobs is back — and he scored on his first game action of the 2026 season. According to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports), Jacobs hauled in a 25-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the third quarter of Sunday's Packers-Lions game, giving Green Bay a 14-10 lead at the time. The score came off a Lions fumble recovery by Packers linebacker Isaiah McDuffie — Jacobs' first touchdown of the year came with an asterisk attached to Detroit's center, not Green Bay's offense manufacturing something from scratch.
Josh Jacobs
Jacobs finished with 11 carries for 36 yards and five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. The Packers ultimately lost 20-17 on a walk-off field goal, so the win didn't come, but the usage line matters: 16 touches in his season debut is meaningful. The catch-and-run role is particularly notable for PPR leagues (point-per-reception scoring), where his five catches could be just as valuable as the rushing volume. Dynasty managers should treat this as the green light they've been waiting for — Jacobs is active, getting touches, and scoring. Redraft owners, the role is real; lock him back into your lineup if you had him stashed.
