Josh Jacobs Returns to Practice, Has Chance to Play Week 7

The Packers RB is back after six games on the Commissioner's Exempt List — but an NFL investigation still looms.

Josh Jacobs practiced Wednesday and has a chance to suit up Sunday for the Green Bay Packers, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). Jacobs had missed the first six games of the 2026 season after being placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List following a May 26 arrest. He pleaded no contest to battery and criminal destruction of property on Sept. 10, was convicted of battery, fined $1,000, and entered a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage charge.

The legal chapter is technically closed, but the NFL's isn't. The league's Personal Conduct Policy investigation remains open, partly because surveillance video of the incident has been sealed at the request of both Jacobs and the victim. The NFL has explicitly left the door open to further punishment depending on what that footage shows. Fantasy managers need to hold that risk in their back pocket — he's not fully in the clear until the league says so.

Jacobs is the clear priority add on waivers right now if he's still available in your league (PPR or standard). A starting NFL running back returning from a six-game absence, practicing in full and listed as a chance to play Sunday — that's the definition of a high-upside pickup. The Packers have had six weeks to scheme around his absence; his return reshapes their backfield immediately.
