Ravens Add QB Austin Reed to Practice Squad With Season in Crisis Mode
Baltimore's QB room was already a disaster — now they're patching it with a former UFL arm.
The Ravens have signed quarterback Austin Reed to their practice squad, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). The move comes after both starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley went down during Sunday's loss to the Bills, leaving Baltimore in a full-blown quarterback emergency heading into a Thursday night game against Jacksonville.
Austin Reed
Reed, 26, is a practice squad depth piece right now — not a fantasy option. He spent time with the Ravens in training camp this year after playing for the UFL's Dallas Renegades in the spring, and he has a prior connection to Baltimore offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who coached him in Chicago in 2025. That familiarity matters for his chances of sticking around, but it doesn't move the needle for your roster this week.
Joe Fagnano
The real fantasy story here is Fagnano, Baltimore's third-string quarterback now expected to start Thursday against Jacksonville, per ProFootballTalk. His debut was rough — 10-of-21 for 91 yards and an interception — and the quick turnaround gives him almost no time to prepare. ProFootballTalk reports Jackson may be out for the season with a thumb injury and Huntley is dealing with turf toe, so Fagnano could be the starter for more than just one emergency game. In deeper dynasty leagues, he's worth stashing to monitor, but in redraft (standard season-long formats) he's a dart throw at best against Jacksonville, and his Week 8 performance ceiling is low given the circumstances. Ravens skill-position players — receivers, tight ends, running backs — take a hit in value as long as Fagnano is under center.
