2026 Week 5 Fantasy Football Recap
Jaylen Warren goes nuclear, Drake Maye torches the Raiders, and a London thriller ends on a last-second kick — here's every game that mattered for your fantasy team.
Week 5 delivered everything: a 45-point blowout, a disgusting tie, overtime thrillers, backup quarterbacks stealing the show, and more monster individual performances than your waiver wire can handle. The bye weeks officially kicked in too, so roster management just got real. Let's get into it.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 at Dallas Cowboys 16
Bucky Irving was the fantasy story of this Thursday night game. He ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries — including a 72-yard burst — and added a receiving score. That's 31.5 PPR points against a projection of 14.5. The efficiency was real: Irving broke eight tackles on the night and generated 175 yards from scrimmage on just 23 touches. This wasn't a soft matchup fluke; he earned every yard.
George Pickens torched the Cowboys' defense with 9 catches for 130 yards and a score on 13 targets (28.0 PPR), smashing his 14.2-point projection. After a slow start to the season, the target volume appears locked in. Dak Prescott threw for 316 yards but tossed two interceptions, finishing at 14.6 points — well under his 19.9 projection. Two picks will do that. Javonte Williams scored but totaled just 14.2 PPR points against a 17.3 projection, largely because the Cowboys' offense couldn't sustain drives. Going forward, Irving looks like a must-start RB1 and Pickens has re-established himself as a target hog.
Philadelphia Eagles 17 at Jacksonville Jaguars 19
This London game ended on a Cam Little 57-yard field goal as time expired. The fantasy headline: Parker Washington went off for 6 catches, 124 yards, and two touchdowns on 9 targets (30.4 PPR), more than doubling his 13.4-point projection. Bhayshul Tuten carried the workload with 22 touches for 72 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards. He fell slightly under his 12.9 PPR projection at 11.6, but the 24-touch usage confirms he's the lead back in Jacksonville.
Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards and two scores (22.7 PPR), beating his 17.8 projection. Brenton Strange stepped up with 7 catches for 68 yards on 8 targets (13.8 PPR). The Eagles had a brutal afternoon. Jalen Hurts managed just 13.0 PPR points — well under his 16.4 projection — completing only 52.5% of his passes. Per news reports, the Eagles lost their top three running backs and lead receiver DeVonta Smith by the second half. Dallas Goedert returned from injury and led the team with 6 catches, but the volume (9 targets, 38 yards) didn't translate to big points (9.8 PPR). Will Shipley is now listed as Out going forward, which makes the Eagles' backfield situation murkier heading into Week 6. Washington looks like a must-roster receiver with Lawrence healthy. Tuten's stock continues to rise.
Chicago Bears 7 at Green Bay Packers 31
Jordan Love was flat-out elite: 25 of 31 for 367 yards and two touchdowns (25.3 PPR), crushing his 17.8 projection. The big number was his deep ball — he reportedly set a single-game career high with six big-time throws. Christian Watson erupted for 6 catches, 143 yards, and two touchdowns on 8 targets (32.3 PPR), more than doubling his 15.7 projection. Matthew Golden added 6-123-0 (20.3 PPR) and beat his 12.8 projection. MarShawn Lloyd scored twice on just 10 carries from 44% snap share (16.7 PPR, projection 8.3). Tucker Kraft caught all 5 of his targets for 64 yards (11.6 PPR).
The Bears' offense was a disaster. D'Andre Swift scored but managed only 43 rush yards on 9 carries (17.3 PPR, in line with his 13.1 projection thanks to the TD). Rome Odunze caught just 3 of 9 targets for 40 yards and lost a fumble (5.0 PPR against a 10.3 projection — a real miss). Luther Burden and Colston Loveland both posted underwhelming lines in a blowout. Green Bay's entire passing game is live every week; this team clearly has multiple WR1 candidates with Love under center.
Cincinnati Bengals 31 at Miami Dolphins 24
Joe Burrow was surgical in Miami heat, completing 71.9% of his passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns (24.6 PPR). He beat his 20.6 projection largely by stacking four scores on modest yardage — efficient, not flashy. Samaje Perine was the biggest surprise: he ran 14 times for 68 yards and caught both his targets, adding a receiving TD for 15.8 PPR. His projection was 5.4 points. That's a massive beat, driven by 50.8% snap share and 16 touches. Ja'Marr Chase caught 6 of 10 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown (19.7 PPR), edging his 18.4 projection.
Tanner Hudson snagged 3 catches for 14 yards and a red-zone TD on 29.2% snap share (10.4 PPR), well above his 2.1 projection — but note he is listed as Questionable for Week 6. Mike Gesicki scored on 1-of-2 targets but his low snap count (44.6%) keeps his floor low. On Miami's side, Malik Willis threw two interceptions and lost a fumble despite a surprisingly functional stat line (74 rush yards, 1 rush TD). The Dolphins are now 0-5 and the coach confirmed Willis stays the starter through their bye. With the Bengals on bye in Week 6, plan accordingly — but this offense looks like it has figured things out.
Las Vegas Raiders 17 at New England Patriots 45
Drake Maye put on a show: 26 of 34 for 374 yards and four passing touchdowns, plus a rushing score (39.5 PPR). That's nearly double his 20.3-point projection and one of the best QB performances of the week. DeMario Douglas went for 4 catches, 65 yards, and two touchdowns on just 49.3% snap share (22.5 PPR, projection 6.7). Kyle Williams hauled in a 91-yard, one-touchdown game on 3 targets (18.1 PPR, projection had him projected at 50.1 points — that number seems like a data anomaly, not a real projection). Rhamondre Stevenson scored and totaled 17.5 PPR points, beating his 12.6 projection. Efton Chism and Hunter Henry each contributed solid lines in a high-volume passing game.
A.J. Brown is reportedly eligible to return from injured reserve this week and could practice — that's a big deal for the Patriots' receiver depth and will affect Douglas and Chism's roles. For the Raiders, Ashton Jeanty managed just 10.7 PPR points on 13 touches against a 15.1 projection, buried on a team getting blown out. Brock Bowers caught 8 of 10 targets for 110 yards and a score (23.0 PPR) despite the blowout — he's the one raider you can't fade regardless of game script.
Minnesota Vikings 23 at New Orleans Saints 13
Minnesota stayed undefeated behind their defense. Aaron Jones ran for 113 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries (18.7 PPR), beating his 14.2-point projection. He's listed as Questionable for Week 6 after the game, so monitor that. Justin Jefferson returned from injury and scored once on 7 targets (18.8 PPR, beating his 15.3 projection). Kyler Murray was efficient (80% completion rate, 229 yards, 1 TD) but not a high-volume fantasy finisher at 18.3 points. Will Reichard went 3-of-3 including two 50-plus yarders (16.0 PPR).
New Orleans' offense was lifeless. Chris Olave managed just 4-46-0 (8.6 PPR, well under his 17.7 projection) — this offense has been a consistent fantasy disappointment. Alvin Kamara was barely involved at 26.7% snap share and just 5 touches. Juwan Johnson at tight end also disappointed (5.6 PPR against a 10.8 projection). The Saints head into Week 6 with a deeper problem than one bad game. The Vikings' defense looks legit; be cautious starting against them.
Cleveland Browns 12 at New York Jets 17
Braelon Allen carried the Jets' offense with 116 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 24 touches (18.6 PPR), nearly doubling his 9.2 projection. Garrett Wilson was his usual self: 7 catches, 104 yards, a score (23.4 PPR), beating his 15.8 projection. Geno Smith was shaky — 4 sacks, a fumble, and just 10.0 PPR points against a 14.9 projection.
Deshaun Watson took eight sacks, completed under 46% of his passes, and lost a fumble — a genuinely ugly afternoon (12.2 PPR). Quinshon Judkins is now Questionable with an ankle injury after managing only 8.0 PPR points here. Isaiah Bond showed some upside (74 yards on 3 catches), but the Browns' offense is in chaos. Allen looks like a legitimate RB1 with this kind of workhorse usage.
Indianapolis Colts 22 at Pittsburgh Steelers 34
Jaylen Warren had arguably the single greatest individual fantasy performance of Week 5. He scored two touchdowns — an 80-yard catch-and-run and a 50-yard rush — and finished with 101 rushing yards, 87 receiving yards, and 6 catches on 6 targets. That's 36.8 PPR points against a projection of just 14.6. The 86.7% snap share confirms this was volume plus efficiency, not a one-play fluke. Aaron Rodgers threw for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns (22.0 PPR), beating his 17.0 projection and connecting on a historic 580th career touchdown pass. Pat Freiermuth went 5-44-2 (21.5 PPR) against a 8.6 projection — his red-zone role is real. Germie Bernard stepped up with 9 targets, 6 catches, and 80 yards (14.4 PPR), way above his 3.7 projection. DK Metcalf had a quiet 4-target, 5.3 PPR day (projected 13.2).
Tyler Warren led Indianapolis with 7 catches for 83 yards and a rushing TD (21.4 PPR), beating his 12.7 projection. Jonathan Taylor was limited to 45 rush yards on 15 carries (11.2 PPR against a 17.9 projection). Spencer Shrader went 5-for-5 on field goals including two from 50-plus (21.0 PPR). Note: Roman Wilson reportedly suffered a finger injury and is expected to miss a couple of weeks, which clears a path for Bernard to keep this role.
Houston Texans 26 at Tennessee Titans 3
Houston picked up their first win of the season in convincing fashion. C.J. Stroud completed 76.5% of his passes for 261 yards, a TD, and a rushing score (20.9 PPR), beating his 17.4 projection. The big news off the field: the Marvin Harrison Jr. trade from Arizona officially closed — he's now a Texan. That will reshape this offense going forward; watch how it affects Nico Collins and Jaylin Noel's target shares. Woody Marks led the backfield with 19 touches for 62 rush yards and 4 catches (12.5 PPR), comfortably beating his 7.7 projection. Jaylin Noel caught all 5 of his targets and scored (15.2 PPR, beating his 5.7 projection). Collins posted only 10.6 PPR points against a 17.6 projection — a miss. Ka'imi Fairbairn hit 4 of 4 field goals including a 53-yarder (17.0 PPR).
Tennessee's offense was essentially nonexistent. Cam Ward finished with just 6.0 fantasy points. Tony Pollard carried 14 times for 52 yards with no score. Tyjae Spears caught 9 passes but for only 28 yards and lost a fumble. Harrison Jr.'s arrival in Houston makes the Texans' offense a must-watch — once he gets acclimated, this could be a top unit.
New York Giants 27 at Washington Commanders 27
A tie. The single most hated outcome in fantasy football. Jayden Daniels returned from injury and was sensational: 103 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and 199 passing yards (32.3 PPR), crushing his 18.9 projection. But it wasn't enough. Isaiah Likely went bananas for the Giants with 11 catches, 94 yards, and two touchdowns on 13 targets (32.4 PPR), more than doubling his 12.9 projection. Malik Nabers led all receivers with 20 targets, hauling in 11 for 121 yards and a score (29.1 PPR, beating his 14.2 projection — that target share is elite). Jameis Winston threw for 326 yards and 3 TDs (25.7 PPR), well above his 15.2 projection.
Cam Skattebo was a disappointment with a fumble and only 15 touches for 59 yards (7.1 PPR against a 12.6 projection). Jacory Croskey-Merritt contributed an 82-yard, one-TD effort (14.2 PPR). Going forward: Nabers' 20-target game is the kind of usage you build your team around. Likely's 13-target share suggests a massive role in New York's offense. Daniels looks fully healthy and is a QB1 lock when Washington has the ball this often.
Denver Broncos 23 at Los Angeles Chargers 17
The Chargers fell to 0-5. Justin Herbert was sacked five times, threw an interception, and lost a fumble — finishing with just 11.2 PPR points against a 15.8 projection. His trade value chatter is growing louder per reports. Kimani Vidal provided the lone Chargers highlight: a 42-yard TD run and 12.6 PPR points, well above his 4.1 projection. Omarion Hampton got 14 touches but only 33 yards (4.9 PPR against a 10.2 projection) — the committee is muddying his path to consistent production.
Bo Nix was rough for Denver too: 7.9 PPR points against a 17.3 projection, with two fumbles. J.K. Dobbins scored and totaled 13.4 PPR against a 8.9 projection, hitting on 18 carries. Jaylen Waddle continued to disappoint at 4.8 PPR (projected 13.0). Until Nix cleans up the turnovers, Denver's passing game is a streamer-only proposition.
Detroit Lions 45 at Arizona Cardinals 21
Two 45-point offenses in one week — Detroit was one of them. Jahmyr Gibbs was an absolute monster: 25 carries for 151 yards, two touchdowns, and 5 catches for 56 yards — 207 combined yards and 37.7 PPR points. He beat his already-strong 25.2 projection and earned a 200-plus yard from scrimmage bonus. Jared Goff threw for 271 yards and 3 TDs plus a rushing score (28.9 PPR, above his 21.4 projection). Sam LaPorta caught all 5 of his targets for 88 yards and a score (19.8 PPR). Jameson Williams scored twice on 4 targets (18.7 PPR, beating his 12.5 projection). Amon-Ra St. Brown drew 11 targets but managed just 12.9 PPR points — two fumbles hurt badly, and he undercut his 21.8 projection significantly.
For the Cardinals, Trey McBride caught 9 of 10 targets for 66 yards and a score (21.6 PPR, slightly under his 19.7 projection but still rock-solid). Jacoby Brissett threw for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns (26.3 PPR), beating his 19.4 projection — though reports suggest the Cardinals are considering activating Carson Beck. Teagan Quitoriano scored twice on just 2 targets (15.5 PPR), but his 41% snap share makes this a clear touchdown-dependent line. St. Brown owners need to keep calm — his target share (11 looks) was there; the fumbles killed him.
San Francisco 49ers 32 at Seattle Seahawks 29
San Francisco moved to 5-0 despite a chippy, turnover-filled game. Mike Evans made his 49ers debut count: 10 targets, 7 catches, 113 yards, and a touchdown (26.3 PPR), well above his 14.0 projection. Christian McCaffrey scored and finished at 17.3 PPR — just under his 18.0 projection. Brock Purdy threw for just 189 yards (two TDs, one INT) and came in under his 18.5 projection at 17.2 PPR.
Key injury news: Deebo Samuel suffered a hamstring injury and will miss an indefinite period. That's a significant blow to San Francisco's offense and elevates Evans' value going forward. Jaxon Smith-Njigba for Seattle was outstanding: 5 catches, 102 yards, a score on 8 targets (22.8 PPR), slightly under his 24.5 projection. He is listed as Questionable with an ankle injury ahead of what appears to be a short week. Emanuel Wilson started and logged 22 touches for 61 rush yards and a TD (13.2 PPR), beating his 9.9 projection. George Holani fumbled twice and posted just 5.1 PPR points. Sam Darnold threw two interceptions and was sacked five times, finishing at 10.3 PPR — half his 18.1 projection. Seattle's offense is struggling. Monitor Jaxon Smith-Njigba's ankle closely given the quick turnaround.
Baltimore Ravens 30 at Atlanta Falcons 23
Tyler Huntley started in place of the injured Lamar Jackson and nearly fell short — then pulled off a two-minute comeback and scored the overtime winner. Huntley finished with 24.0 PPR points against a projection of just 1.6. Derrick Henry ran for 102 yards and a receiving touchdown (21.0 PPR), beating his 16.9 projection with his usual workhorse load of 24 carries. Zay Flowers led the Ravens' receivers with 8 catches on 9 targets but no score (14.6 PPR, under his 16.6 projection). Drake London led Atlanta with 11 targets, 7 catches, 118 yards, and no touchdowns (18.8 PPR, slightly above her 16.7 projection). Bijan Robinson ran 17 times for 86 yards and 4 catches (15.8 PPR, well under his 22.0 projection — the offense couldn't sustain drives). Kyle Pitts scored once on 6 targets (15.2 PPR, above his 8.0 projection).
Michael Penix is listed as Questionable with a rib injury after getting hurt late in the game. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he'll know more Wednesday. That's a major flag for Atlanta's fantasy players — if Penix misses time, this offense takes a massive hit. Huntley's performance was impressive but entirely matchup/context-dependent; don't overreact.
Buffalo Bills 37 at Los Angeles Rams 34
Monday Night Football lived up to the Super Bowl preview billing. Josh Allen went off: 10 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown, plus 210 passing yards — 31.5 PPR points, crushing his 20.7 projection. It was reportedly the fourth double-triple of his career. James Cook scored twice and rushed for 111 yards on 25 carries (22.8 PPR), beating his 15.1 projection despite two fumbles (one lost). Khalil Shakir caught 3 balls for 80 yards (11.0 PPR, in line with his 9.2 projection). Ty Johnson made the most of his passing-game role with 4 catches for 72 yards including a 40-yarder (11.2 PPR, above his 4.7 projection). Tyler Bass hit all three field goals (12.0 PPR).
For the Rams, Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and 3 TDs on 54 attempts (27.3 PPR), well above his 18.5 projection. Puka Nacua had a historic night: 17 catches on 24 targets for 138 yards and a score (37.7 PPR). That reception total is eye-popping. Davante Adams scored twice (22.1 PPR, beating his 15.3 projection). Kyren Williams scored and contributed 6 receptions (19.6 PPR, meeting his 17.6 projection). Blake Corum had a breakout pass-catching game — 3 receptions for 53 yards including a 34-yarder — and scored (16.2 PPR, more than double his 7.7 projection). Tyler Higbee caught 5 of 6 targets for 83 yards (13.3 PPR, well above his 6.6 projection). The Rams lost but generated massive fantasy production across the board. The Bills remain one of the best fantasy teams in the league when Allen is running the ball.
