2026 Week 8 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Seahawks Trade for Quenton Nelson, Cut TE Josiah Deguara
Seattle clears a roster spot by releasing Deguara — a move that matters more than it looks given Elijah Arroyo's shoulder injury.
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to trade for guard Quenton Nelson, sending a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-rounder to the Colts, according to ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports). Nelson still needs to pass a physical to finalize the deal. To clear the roster spot, Seattle waived guard Christian Haynes and cut tight end Josiah Deguara.
Josiah Deguara
Deguara's release is the fantasy-relevant piece here. He was already buried on the depth chart, but his exit shrinks Seattle's TE room further — and that matters because starter Elijah Arroyo is already dealing with a shoulder injury that ProFootballTalk (NBC Sports) reported is expected to cost him time. With Arroyo out and Deguara now gone, the Seahawks are thin at the position.
AJ Barner is next in line and the clear beneficiary. He's logged an 88.1% snap share (percentage of offensive plays on the field) across seven games this season and is averaging 4.1 targets and 2.7 receptions per game — real volume for a backup TE. If Arroyo misses extended time, Barner becomes a legitimate streaming option in PPR formats (point-per-reception scoring leagues). Eric Saubert is a distant second at 26.7% snap share and 1.3 targets per game — fine as a handcuff stash, not worth a waiver claim on his own.
Deguara himself is a cut in all formats. ProFootballTalk notes he could return to Seattle's practice squad if unclaimed, but that holds zero fantasy value.
